On October 12, 2011, Team of Association for Realization of Basic Needs (ARBAN) voluntarily work with Behbood-e-Atfan Project (BAP) team for Medical Camp setup for flood affected people at Tando Adam area, 190 KM far from Karachi.

Camp Objectives! ! !
  • To provide medical service and consultation to the villagers at their doorstep;
  • To provide quality medicines, vitamins, antibiotics, etc…
  • To increase awareness of basic hygiene and preventative health care;
  • To determine the percentage of most common diseases among the villagers and assess their most pressing medical needs;
  • To improve relationships between the community and public sector;
  • To increase awareness of basic rights

Members of the ARBAN and BAP announced the date of the medical camps to the community weeks in advance.

Volunteers went to the village area four days in advance to assess the total number of patients expected to attend the camp and also to finalize all arrangements required to conduct the camp.

The people of the area were suffering from viral influenza, malaria and illnesses inflicted. Many people complained that there had been no real relief effort following the summer floods and that contaminated water was still causing health problems.

Volunteers also did an excellent job in organizing and maintaining the medical camps. BAP hopes to continue this work to reach the many thousands of people who still need medical treatment and access to other basic necessities of life.

BAP and ARBAN will also continue to mobilize the communities and advocate for their rights. Overall, the medical camps ran smoothly and were deemed a success by all involved.
